Seniors Social Connection Program

Our Seniors Social Connection Program creates a welcoming space where older adults can meet, relax, build friendships, and enjoy meaningful time together.

Through regular gatherings, seniors take part in friendly conversations, traditional card games, storytelling, refreshments, and other social activities. These gatherings help seniors stay connected, reduce isolation, and maintain a strong sense of belonging within the community.

The program is designed to be comfortable, culturally familiar, and accessible. Seniors can share experiences, discuss community issues, enjoy laughter, and support one another in a respectful and relaxed environment.

Community Education and Information Sessions

Our sessions bring community members together to learn, connect, and access important information in a welcoming and culturally respectful setting.

Topics may include health, settlement, seniors’ services, financial literacy, employment, family support, and public programs.

The goal is to make useful information easier to understand and access, especially for people facing language, cultural, or system-navigation barriers.

    Spring/Summer 2020-2024 Programs

Over the past four years, the Canadian Somali Association has proudly hosted the Somali Day/Canada Day event, bringing together teams from across America, Europe, and Canada. Our annual celebration has successfully featured both soccer and basketball tournaments, fostering a vibrant and inclusive spirit of sportsmanship and community engagement.

The Canadian Somali Association also presented 'Somali Heritage Week,' an event celebrating our heritage through exciting soccer and basketball tournaments. Held from July 20 to July 28, 2024, this event gathered teams from Europe, America, and Canada for a week of intense competition and cultural exchange. Participants engaged in thrilling matches while also immersing themselves in the rich traditions and vibrant culture of the Somali community.
